The history of REPEXSA Canada is rooted in the growing presence of REPEXSANS (alumni of Regina Pacis College Mutengene) across the globe. As these alumni established themselves in various countries, the need to create chapter branches to foster unity and support became apparent. In 2010, a joint Canada-USA chapter was established to serve REPEXSANS living in both countries. However, with the steady rise in the number of alumni residing in Canada, the need for a separate Canada chapter became increasingly evident.
On June 28, 2020, REPEXSA Canada was officially launched, initially operating as REPEXSA Alberta. The association started with a small but dedicated group of alumni based in Alberta, committed to creating a platform for collaboration and mutual support. Within a year, the chapter expanded its reach across other provinces, becoming a nationwide organization that connects REPEXSANS throughout Canada.
Today, REPEXSA Canada boasts a diverse and vibrant membership that includes professionals, entrepreneurs, students, and community leaders from various fields. Its members are united by their shared heritage and a commitment to promoting the values instilled during their time at Regina Pacis College. Through social events, mentorship programs, and collaborative initiatives, members work together to support one another and contribute to the association’s growth.
REPEXSA Canada also remains deeply connected to its alma mater, engaging in activities that give back to the school and its current students. Members have organized fundraising efforts, supported educational programs, and fostered initiatives that uphold the legacy of excellence at Regina Pacis College.
Under the visionary leadership of its pioneer and current president, Derek Yunga (Class of 2000), REPEXSA Canada has flourished into a strong and dynamic network. Derek’s dedication, leadership skills, and passion for the association have inspired members to actively participate in building a united and impactful organization.
REPEXSA Canada stands as a testament to the enduring bond among REPEXSANS, a community committed to preserving their shared history while embracing the opportunities of the future.

REPACOL was born out of the Bonjongo crisis in 1997—a moment of upheaval that God transformed into a double blessing for the Catholic Church Diocese of Buea and countless young lives. This pivotal event not only gave rise to the vibrant community of alumni known as REPEXSANS but also brought a transformative change to the small town of Mutengene, located along the road to Buea.
The story of Regina Pacis College Mutengene (REPACOL) is one of resilience, faith, and an unyielding commitment to education.
In 1997, the village of Bonjongo, where the original school campus of St. Paul’s College was located, became increasingly unsafe due to a crisis that reached its peak. Desperate for a solution, Bishop Pius Awa of the Buea Diocese made the critical decision to transfer the school to the town of Mutengene. Renamed St. Paul’s College Mutengene, the relocation was fraught with challenges. Mutengene, already marred by its reputation and the aftermath of a devastating timber accident, was seen by many as an equally risky location—if not worse. Critics labelled the move as exchanging one crisis for another.
Despite the skepticism, preparations for the transfer proceeded. Furniture and equipment were moved, a principal was appointed, and by September 1997, the school was ready to reopen. However, the challenges persisted. Many students did not follow the school to its new location, and the uncertainty loomed large over its future.
A dramatic turn came in November 1997 when a national communique aired on CRTV banning St. Paul’s College Mutengene. The announcement caused panic among parents and guardians, who rushed to the school to withdraw their children. Yet, the pioneer principal, Rev. Fr. George Nkeze, stood firm. He reassured parents, urging them to trust the school and allow their children to remain.
Behind the scenes, the Catholic Education Board worked tirelessly, lobbying in Yaoundé to secure the school’s future. On November 17, 1997, a historic breakthrough occurred: the school was officially reborn as Regina Pacis Higher, Technical and Commercial College, affectionately known as REPACOL.
The success of REPACOL’s establishment cannot be told without honouring the courage and leadership of its first principal, Rev. Fr. George Nkeze. Tasked with leading the school during a time of crisis and uncertainty, he laid the foundation for what REPACOL would become. Despite the doubts and harsh criticism from skeptics, Fr. Nkeze’s unwavering determination turned a precarious beginning into a story of triumph. His vision and strength inspired generations of principals to follow, and he remains enshrined in the school’s Hall of Fame.
From its inception, REPACOL adopted the motto “Venite et Videte”—Latin for “Come and See.” This phrase embodied the school’s response to its doubters and critics. It was a bold invitation to witness what God had in store for REPACOL: a place of passion, resilience, and rising dreams. This motto fueled the students and staff’s confidence, turning skepticism into admiration over time.
Despite the difficult beginnings, REPACOL has flourished into a center of excellence, achieving remarkable success in academics and producing alumni who continue to make meaningful contributions worldwide. The invitation to “Come and See” remains open, a testament to the enduring legacy of a school that refused to be defined by its circumstances.
